If you were planning on donating to the homeless this year, don't. It appears that Lady Gaga's "little monsters" would rather have you donate money so the meat dress star can avoid having her latest single bomb.
Marry the Night
"Marry the Night" is the fifth single off of Lady Gaga’s album Born This Way, which became controversial after selling for only 99 cents. Fans and critics have generally praised the song and the 14 minute video was released last week. The video, along with several different live performances of the song, helped the song climb into the iTunes chart all the way to number 11. Since then, the single has been dropping off iTunes while losing steam at radio.
Lady Gaga, who previously topped the charts with almost every song she put her claws on, has been struggling lately. Her songs "Judas," "Edge of Glory," and "You and I" have hit the top ten and dropped quickly. Some commentators, such as Bill O'Reilly, have called Lady Gaga "over with."
Little Monsters to the Rescue
Lady Gaga can take a deep breath. Little Monsters are planning to buy multiple copies of the song starting on Friday to help bolster its chart position. A Blog called The Lady Gaga Project is asking for donations to help the song. The owner of the site realizes that iTunes knows when multiple purchases of a song are being purchased by one person, but claims she knows how to get her way around it.
Lady Gaga Thanksgiving Turkey
It certainly isn’t easy being Lady Gaga these days. Her special A Very Gaga Thanksgiving—hyped as the television event of the year—bombed with less viewers than a re-run of a Charlie Brown special. However, the special did draw more viewers than previous ABC Thanksgiving specials, including one starring Beyoncé. Since the special, Lady Gaga has tried to revive herself by appearing on just about every magazine cover, every radio show, and putting herself out there whenever possible.
Little Monsters Could Hurt Lady Gaga
It is very doubtful that Lady Gaga is even remotely involved with the latest stunt to move her record sales. One would hope that Lady Gaga herself denouces this type of chart manipulative tactic, which has been used by fans of other artists as well. As one commenter pointed out on The Lady Gaga Project, “This type of thing often backfires on an artist. Please donate the money for a good cause.”
